Abingdon has changed its name to Abingdon-on-Thames to attract more visitors.
The town used to call itself Abingdon-on-Thames and now the town council has won approval from the district council to make the old name official.
The welcome signs will be changed soon although the best welcome would be the reopening of the Nag’s Head pub on the bridge.
The local debate has continued since the decision last month.
